The Fried Liver Attack is not the sort of thing I would play against someone I had never played before, but for a parlor trick opening it is a surprisingly sound way to pick up a pawn and head into middle game equal, but simplifying and looking to endgame. To play it well, it's necessary to be accurate and not give up the pawn, which is essentially the only thing gained from this opening. The Fried Liver Attack, also called the Fegatello Attack [named for an Italian idiom meaning "dead as a piece of liver"], is a chess opening. This colorfully named opening is a variation of the Two Knights Defense of the Italian game in which White sacrifices a knight for a superficially impressive attack on the enemy king. The Fried Liver has been known for many centuries, the first known game score being from a game played in Rome in 1610.. The Fried Liver Attack is classified in the Encyclopaedia of Chess Openings [ECO] with the code C57.
actually, now that I have reviewed alot of the games in that link, the fried liver attack is a volatile king hunt, and there are lines that lead to quick checkmate, and othter lines that lead to long games predicated on a pawn majority. If black plays to hold the extra piece, which is the obvious king move, then the game gets very complicated very quickly with the king in the center. If black cedes the piece in order to play a quieter middle game, then the pawn advantage and the uncastled king become the thematic advantages in those lines.

If black allows the fried liver he also allows the improved fried liver (the lolli attack) which may be a big problem for black.
