What am I missing if it looks to me like b5-b6 accomplishes the same thing?
Plays out the same, except if Bxc6+ then Rxc6#.
Or am I just sleepy?
If white plays b5-b6 then black plays Rc7, if white plays Rc8xc7 that would be white’s second move and its not mate, if white plays Nd4-b5++ (a double check by whites knight and queen) then black plays Kxc6 and avoids checkmate in two.

What stops Kxe6 after Re7 and Kd4-f5?
