2. Rb8
&lt;span style="padding-left:40px;"&gt;2. Rf8+? Rf6 draws&lt;/span&gt;
2...Rf6!
&lt;span style="padding-left:40px;"&gt;A smart defence; 2...Re6 3. Rxb5+ Kf6 succumbs to 4. Rb6! Kxe7 5. Rxe6+ Kxe6 6. Ke4, etc.&lt;/span&gt;
3. Rxb5+ Ke6+
4. Rf5!!
