3 Strategy Games You Can Get Very Good At

By Cathrynnader on 5th December

Gambling is not always a game of chance. Yes, there is a great deal of luck involved, but the smart players know that you create your own luck. How else do you imagine people are able to make a living from poker or roulette, for example? There has to be a roadmap out there somewhere, and today we will try and point you in the right direction.

Roulette

The wheel can be beaten. It has been done before, and it can be done again. However, you will not beat the wheel using the strategies sold in every book shop in front of a casino. Forget the mathematical formulae and games of chance. The casinos know the math better than anyone else. For roulette, the strategy is in the physics. This is a wheel that is governed by physics. Bet small amounts and learn its bias. You could use a computer with specific software to help you analyse the motion, but it is likely that if you get caught they’ll throw you out. Use the eye and learn. That’s it.

Blackjack

Blackjack is much harder to master. If you don’t like memorizing strategies, blackjack might not be the game for you. Just remember that blackjack is about beating the dealer, but don’t be so hard that he drops out. Tricky and confusing but that’s it.

Poker

Poker can make you a millionaire. Of the three strategy games discussed, poker requires the most patience and presence of mind. If you get emotional, you will lose. Poker is like a long-term project. To master this game you will need, among other things, to have a coach. Learn under someone. Study your weaknesses. You can win at strategy games, but you will have to learn and start from a place of humility. This is possible, but only for those strong enough to accept help.

Poker and Chess – Two Brothers, Different Mothers

By Cathrynnader on 4th December

Poker and chess; as different as chalk and cheese you may think. But the iconic card game and board game do share one common element; something that starts with an ‘s’ – Strategy.

All about Strategy

Neither game can be won without an element of planning. Your next move could very well decide whether you win or lose, hence the need for strategy. And that cannot happen without first gaining some insight into the game. This is one reason why poker stands apart from other card games, having achieved a status of its own. You need more than just dumb luck to win a round.

Information is Key

You probably know that you need to strategize, but did you know that information is what drives the strategy forward? Take chess, for instance. A player needs to learn the various moves a chess piece can make before even formulating a plan. The same holds true for poker. There are certain ground rules that will serve you well, and with which you will need to be familiar. It may feel like a bit of a bore, but think of it as a stepping stone to chalking up one win after another. After all, who wouldn’t like to show off their poker skills to their friends, family or even an online group of players.

Keep Calm and Carry On

It is not an exaggeration to say that there is a deluge of information out there, especially online. The question then is what and whom do you follow. One tip is to pick the brains of any friend who plays poker. They could be an office colleague or a bowling mate, for instance. Now, this is for those who are starting out. For the more experienced players, we recommend the loose-aggressive poker strategy (LAG). Whether you are a beginner or a professional, the trick is to keep playing and keep sharpening your strategies.
