That certainly is a fine collection that guy has. His collection of Staunton (assuming he owns all those listed) is amazing.

Me neither. I took the position from a game in Chernev's Logical Chess Move By Move. What a great move! White is winning, but to win either the f-pawn or the knight have got to go. Re6 addresses both in one move!

1. Re6!! If 1...fxe6, then 2. Qxg6+ Kh8 3. Qh6+ Kg8 4. Bh7+ Kh8 5. Bf5+ Kg8 6. Bxe6+ Rf7 7. Bxf7#

ok i'm thinking 1. Nd6 fxd6 2. Qxg6+ Kh8 ....and then either Re5 or g4 then g5
neither of those ideas seem fast enough though.

I did the diagram wrong and forgot one crucial attacking piece (Ng5)! Sorry about that!

i don't know, at first glance it seems like white has won, just sac sac mate. but then after Bxg6, the rules of the game allow black to not recapture and just calmly defend with the knight. the immediate rook lift to e3 is no good because of the knight fork on g4 evicting the queen. but maybe, Bxg6- black moves, then rook lift to e3 would work? since now the knight can't leave f6. not sure if that's interesting enough though.
